Translation of Plato's dialogue, Parmenides, by Juan and Maria Balboa. Interlinear Greek and English with key words in color, and additional diagrams and quotes supplied by the authors.
Then there are 2 versions from Yoni:
There are 3 versions here:
#1 - The latest revision from Juan and Maria: (dated July 11, 2020).
#2 - "jas-formatted" - a 2018 version where JeffS edited in some additional formatting: Parmenides "paragraph/exchange numbers" (as well as for Zeno and Socrates), and horizontal lines and negative indents for Stephanus sections, to make it easier to navigate.
#3a - Yoni's original "Parallel Translations (now with Jowett)" version which starts with the original Ancient Greek from the Loeb/Perseus and then the translations, first and foremost Juan & Maria's, then the Loeb, Taylor, Morrow-Dillon, and Jowett. There is one Stephanus number per every 2 facing pages, for easy study and reference, so that all these are visible at once. This version is also updated to include the Balboa revisions up to November 27, 2016. Hard Copies are available at lulu: Regular (8.5x11) and Small (6x9).
#3b - A newer ("plekd") version from Yoni, posted here May 18, 2018, and including the Balboa revisions up to Feb 9, 2017. According to Yoni:
- This version has 2 English translations, Balboas (Revised 9 Feb 2017) and the Loeb, along with the Oxford greek (from http://www.perseus.tufts.edu) in parallel. It has Pierre's Parmenides Paragraph numbering system, Robert S. Brumbaugh’s Theorems, and of course, a whole lot more. You can order a copy (at cost) from Lulu..
Each of Yoni's parallel translations (#3a and #3b) has advantages. The older one has more parallel translations, the newer one has a more updated derivation from the Balboa translation and the additions such as the paragraph numbering system. Pick the one that works best for you.
Yoni has also contributed an awesome map of the hypotheses, downloadable as one of the PDFs in the Download Options section of this page. Thank you, Yoni!
Both the jas-formatted and Yoni versions of the Balboa text are the primary reference for the Parmenides Morning Study Group (NSPRM) discussions with Pierre Grimes, PhD
